8 Current Food Recalls You Need To Know

1. Cinnamon Powder from Raja Foods LLC

In March 2024, Raja Foods issued a recall for its due to possible lead contamination.

Packaged in 3.5-oz retail packs, Swad Cinnamon powder with batches “KX21223” and “KX08123” and “Best Before” dates of July 2026 and March 2026, respectively, shouldn’t be consumed.

Although illnesses or adverse reactions haven’t been reported, consuming lead-contaminated products can cause neurological damage, lead to developmental delays, and facilitate behavioral disorders.

2. CHILLIMAMI SAUCE from AJI MORI Sauce Corp. DBA Susi Koo

In February 2024, Aji Mori Sauce Corp. DBA Suchi Koo voluntarily recalled its CHILLIMAMI SAUCE due to potential contamination with Clostridium botulinum.

Consuming Clostridium botulinum can lead to the production of botulinum toxins in the body that block nerve functions and can cause respiratory and muscular paralysis.

Check your pantry for the CHILLIMAMI SAUCE in a 250-mL clear plastic bottle with an expiration date of October 1, 2024. Make sure to dispose of or return the product if you find any.

3. Marcum Ground Cinnamon & Supreme Tradition Ground Cinnamon from Colonna Brothers, Inc.

After a targeted sampling program of discount brands, the FDA has found that specific lot codes of Marcum Ground Cinnamon and Supreme Tradition Ground Cinnamon from Colonna Brothers contain elevated levels of lead.

As a result, Colonna Brothers voluntarily recalled the above-mentioned products and ceased the production and distribution of all cinnamon in March 2024.

4. Gluten Free Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut Mix from Stonewall Kitchen

Stonewall Kitchen received a consumer report of a reaction after consuming their Gluten Free Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut Mix.

Due to an undeclared allergen (wheat) in Gluten Free Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut Mix, Stonewall Kitchen voluntarily recalled a limited amount of the product in March 2024.

As wheat is a common allergen and some people have severe sensitivity to it, it’s recommended to get rid of the products with the “Enjoy By Dates” of 03-09-2025 and 03-10-2025.

Note that the product doesn’t pose any risks to individuals with no allergies to wheat or gluten.

5. Single Slices of Carrot Cake & Chocolate Cake from KALO Foods, LLC

In March 2024, Kalo Foods, LLC recalled their Single Slice Carrot Cake distributed between 2/28/24 and 2/29/24 due to an undeclared allergen, soy. While the packaging is labeled as a Carrot Cake, the ingredient list is for their Chocolate Cake.

As the Chocolate Cake doesn’t contain soy and the Carrot Cake does, the product isn’t safe for consumption for those who are sensitive or allergic to soy.

6. Wesco Mint No Bake Cookie Bites from Wesco Inc.

Due to the potential presence of peanuts, Wesco, Inc. recalled 750 units of Wesco Mint No Bake Cookie Bites in March 2024. The investigation revealed that the problem was caused by incorrect product formulation within the software system.

If you’re allergic to peanuts and have purchased the No Bake Cookie Bites from 03/15/2024 to 03/18/204, you should avoid consuming the product.

7. Ground Cinnamon from La Fiesta Food Products

Due to potential lead contamination, La Fiesta Food Products recalled their 0.87-oz packages of Cinnamon Ground in March 2024. The company became aware of the issue after the FDA conducted product and lab analysis of collected samples.

Although none of the customers have reported any health-related issues, it’s recommended to discard or return the products that have been distributed to retail stores from April 20, 2023, through May 3, 2023.

8. Ground Cinnamon “Canela Molida” from El Chilar Rodriguez LLC

El Chilar Rodriguez LLC issued a voluntary recall of Ground Cinnamon “Canela Molida” as it may include traces of lead. The recalled products are packaged in 1.25-oz bags, with a total of around 1,500 packages.

If you’ve been using Ground Cinnamon “Canela Molida,” check your pantry for the packages with lot codes “D300 EX1024” and “F272 EX1016.” These products should be discarded immediately.
