1. Gift Wrap
While gift wrapping is optional, it considerably enhances the overall gift-giving experience. And if you’re looking for something special, Target is unfortunately not the right place.
While Target wrapping papers are overpriced, they are also lower in quality. Despite that, many people still buy wrapping papers at Target, so every other gift may look the same.
For affordable gift wraps, it’s better to visit local dollar stores. For more unique and higher-quality wrapping papers, go to T.J. Maxx or Ross.
2. Books
Target is packed with best-seller books, but there are barely any less-popular books on the shelves. Besides, books at Target are quite expensive, while you can easily find new or gently used books for a fraction of the price.
Unless you need a specific book ASAP, ordering books from eBay, Amazon, or other online retailers would be a more budget-friendly option.
3. Craft Supplies
You can definitely find some craft supplies at a local Target, but the selection and prices won’t be that great. Target offers plenty of art supplies for children, but you may not be able to find good tools or professional supplies for your business or hobby.
If you’re looking for craft supplies, you should consider visiting a dedicated craft store like Michael’s. You can find some of the best deals and a huge supply variety.
4. Electronics
Target offers a wide selection of electronics, from TVs and gaming consoles to air fryers and microwaves. However, finding good tech deals at Target is rare.
Unless it’s Target’s holiday blowout sale, you’re better off heading to another tech store or shopping online.
5. Pet Supplies
While you can get some basic pet supplies at Target, the selection is pretty limited compared to pet stores or larger retailers that have dedicated pet care sections.
Along with the prices being higher, Target doesn’t really offer specific brands or products that are designed for pets with dietary restrictions or health issues.
Consider opting for pet-specific or online stores for a wider pet supply selection and more affordable prices.
6. Gift Cards
Target definitely offers some gift cards for Starbucks, App Store, Google Play, Netflix, and more. However, the selection is typically limited to larger and more sought-after brands.
For a wider gift card selection, you should visit Costco or simply order virtual gift cards online. Online marketplaces like Card Cash can also be used for buying and selling gift cards while saving up to 20% of the value.
7. Target Brand Diapers
Target-brand diapers are much more affordable than those from Huggies or Pampers, but they might not be worth it.
Many parents have reported that Target Up & Up diapers are flimsy and do not provide sufficient absorbance. They may also cause leak issues due to the fit rather than the quality.
8. Sandals
The footwear section at Target often features a wide variety of sandals with bright colors and trendy designs. While they are also quite cheap, it’s hardly possible to find comfy, sturdy, and long-lasting sandals at Target.
Although quite rare, you may still be able to find a pair of sandals that fits well and is of good quality. However, the majority of Target sandals aren’t made to last and may cause blisters and pain.
9. Decorative Storage Bins
Target offers plenty of cute storage bins that you can use for organizing and storing your makeup, jewelry, clothes, or miscellaneous items.
While the storage bins may look cute, they are often made of plastic and can easily deteriorate over time, let alone the environmental factors linked to plastic pollution. Besides, the prices are often not comparable to the quality.
For affordable and higher-quality storage bins, you should visit Marshalls and T.J. Maxx or shop online on Amazon.
10. Meat
With no on-site butcher and limited meat selection, Target is one of the worst places to buy meat.
However, the meat aisle often features discounted products and packages with coupons attached to them.
So, you should get some meat from Target whenever you find those steals.
